By installing or using Mandarin Lens, you agree to these terms.

What Mandarin Lens is

Mandarin Lens is a Chrome extension and an iPhone app that overlay AI-generated Mandarin subtitles and audio onto YouTube videos for language learning purposes. We are not affiliated with YouTube, Google, or OpenAI.

YouTube

Mandarin Lens plays videos through YouTube's player and uses YouTube API Services. By using Mandarin Lens, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies to data YouTube collects. Videos, captions and clips belong to their creators and rights holders; we do not claim any ownership of them. Credits for the data and software we use are listed in the app under Account, then Acknowledgements.

Your account

You need a Google account to use Mandarin Lens. You are responsible for maintaining access to your account.

Free tier limits

In the Chrome extension, free accounts have usage limits that are enforced on our servers. These limits may change in the future with notice. The iPhone app has no free tier: it requires a subscription, which starts with a free trial when one is offered.

Subscriptions (iPhone app)

Mandarin Lens Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. Prices are shown in the app before you subscribe and may vary by country.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or when a free trial ends.
• The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Refund requests for purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple.

Age requirement

Mandarin Lens is not intended for users under the age of 13. By using this service, you confirm that you are 13 years of age or older.

Acceptable use

You may not use Mandarin Lens to:

• Circumvent YouTube's terms of service
• Scrape, redistribute, or store YouTube content
• Attempt to reverse engineer or abuse our backend

No warranty

Mandarin Lens is provided as-is. We make no guarantees about uptime, translation accuracy, or audio quality. This is a beta product and features may change or be removed.

Limitation of liability

We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of Mandarin Lens, including interruptions to service or inaccurate translations.

Changes to the service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.
